Isotonik Studios - Novation LaunchControl X
We here have a fascination with small form MIDI controllers, they maybe diminuitive in size but with a little Sigabort magic they can pack a ton of functionality within them. The next in our series of Control Surface Scripts for Ableton Live is for Novations LaunchControl, an 8 button 16 Encoder mini beast...
USER 6 MODE - 16 PARAMETER CONTROL
Given the number of Factory and User Pages
of settings we decided to add our trademark AutoMapping Upgrade. Switch
to User 6 Mode and whatever is being controlled by the BlueHand
Automapping feature of Live will now give over 16 parameters of control
to the encoders for each bank!
PrEDITOR COMPATIBLE
Of course working in banks of 16 is a
different concept to the standard 8's, as such you may find that you
want to tweak how Devices, Instruments, VST's, AU's and MaxforLive
devices are AutoMapped. Good job we've made this budget script PrEditor
compatible then as you can build up the maps in the assigned 16's and
even map parameters previously hidden to all bu the Ableton Push &
Push TWO!
LAUNCHSYNC COMPATIBLE
And not only that, with our LaunchSync Series you can
additionally sync the on screen Ring Focus Box to other supported
controllers, adding two rows of encoders to a Novation LaunchPad or AKAI
APC40 amongst others...
CONFIGURATION OPTIONS
In line with our other Control Surface Scripts you can define a set of options to personalise your controller even further.- Choose between different modes for displaying return tracks
- Set a maximum number of return tracks to display
- Set how many tracks are moved left and right when moving around the set
- Choose whether the master track is displayed, allowing master volume to be controlled

versatile TLM 107 from Neumann, as well as the new MK4 digital and the
upcoming AMBEO VR Mic from Sennheiser.
A full complement of classic recording microphones will also be on display: From Neumann, this will be the U87 Ai, TLM 67, KM 184 and several other recording staples. Recording microphones from Sennheiser will include the recently introduced MK 8 multi-pattern microphone, as well as classic models from the MKH range, which can be turned into digital microphones using the MZD 8000 digital module.
During the exhibition, the Sennheiser/Neumann Demo Room will also feature a 9.1 monitoring set-up, consisting of Neumann KH 310 and KH 120 nearfields as well as KH 810 subwoofers. Meantime, the exhibition booth will have stereo configurations of the Neumann KH 120 and KH 310 monitors, along with the entire line of Neumann studio monitors as part of the display.
AMBEO and AVAR Conference
Visitors to the Sennheiser and Neumann booth will have the opportunity to experience the promise of fully immersive audio as recorded by Sennheiser using its AMBEO VR Mic in an AMBEO demonstration complete with 3D glasses – further closing the gap between audio playback and reality. The AMBEO VR Mic, which is scheduled to become commercially available in November 2016, is an ideal tool for VR production, presented in a compact form factor.
As part of the Audio for Virtual and Augmented Reality Conference (AVAR), which the AES will hold in parallel to this year’s Convention, Sennheiser will participate in a panel on “Immersive Sound Capture for Cinematic Virtual Reality”, which takes place on October 1st from 11:30 to 12:30 in Theater Room 441. The panel will take a look at the technical and physical requirements that VR puts on location sound engineers and discuss the benefits and constraints of spatial ambience and point sources, finishing with an in-depth look at audio monitoring for VR productions. Sofia Brazzola of Sennheiser Strategic Innovation commented: “Within the framework of our AMBEO 3D audio program, we have been active in the VR production field for quite some time, developing the optimum solution for immersive audio capture. Step into the New “Crown Jewel” of San Francisco Nightlife - The Great Northern Opens Sept 16
The Great Northern - San Francisco, CA - San Francisco’s celebrated Design District springs to life as the imaginative visionaries behind famed cocktail bar/nightclub, Monarch SF and Monarch Beverage Catering, unveil their latest exhilarating foray into the nightlife industry: The Great Northern. Opening its doors for the first time this Friday September 16, SF’s most exciting new venue kicks off its inaugural weekend of musical mayhem and whimsical escapades with its premiere celebration, Smoke n’ Mirrors, which will bring together legends of the underground deep house and techno scene, Thugfucker, Galen, Shiny Objects, DJ M3 + more artists TBA.
Residing in the space once held by SF’s iconic club, Mighty, at 119 Utah Street, the venue has been completely re-imagined to encompass an experience beyond your average dance club. Redesigned as a multi-faceted music venue and event space, The Great Northern is a delicate balance of creativity, functionality and cutting-edge design. The aesthetic is described as “Future Deco,”fusing modern technology with quintessential art deco themes reminiscent of the roaring 20s, The Great Northern features two tantalizing bars to whet the palette, a massive dance floor, and towering 30-foot high ceilings to dazzle seasoned bar vets and nightclub newbies alike. Installations and features were designed by the illustrious One Hat, One Hand team of creative wizards, giving The Great Northern an overall vibe of sleek elegance with specialty touches including a stunning center chandelier, dramatic molded archways, beautiful stained glass and mosaics, and meticulous inspiration ranging from French Deco to Goth Deco. Every intricate design element perfectly encapsulates the creative team’s vision in achieving a composition of both classic modern style and Art Nouveau.
Elevating the standards for nightlife in San Francisco and beyond, The Great Northern will also feature a new state-of-the-art custom 80,000 watt Void Acoustics sound system with next level LED lighting and custom projection mapping - designed to fully immerse the body and awaken the senses deep into the early hours of dawn within the walls of what is sure to be the most hi-fidelity nightclub in existence.
Step behind the scenes of San Francisco's ultimate nightlife destination with this video, which highlights The Great Northern’s story of vision to realization - an in-depth look at the design process and insight from the founding fathers, soon-to-be credited with reviving the underground SF music scene.
Featuring new takes on classic craft cocktails and a very unique and limited table service program, The Great Northern combines an understated elegance with attention to detail and excellence in customer service that is often overlooked in today’s larger format nightlife venues. In the coming month, the front bar will host Happy Hour for guests to enjoy a vast selection of specialty drink concoctions before large floor to ceiling curtains part to unveil and open up the entirety of the venue.
The Great Northern looks ahead to deliver top weekly programming to include both music and live-performance acts. As Om Record Label Owner and Co-founder Chris Smith describes, “We’re looking forward to creating a nightlife experience that is something different and interesting, which we’d be excited to attend. The Great Northern is a complete creative vision both physically and sonically. The design concept is threaded through the entire venue which is not a typical night club. It’s set up as a performance venue which can house DJ and electronic music artists, but can also showcase live music bands, indie rock, jazz, as well as, private events and everything in between. The space is totally modular and can be used for so many different things. San Francisco is so diverse musically and we’re excited to be able to work with all of those scenes.”
The grand opening Smoke n’ Mirrors event on September 16 will set the standard and guide revelers into what’s to come into the future. A sampling of other upcoming Great Northern events include a monthly residence performance by Beats Antique, The Do-Over Block Party on September 18, the Outer Limits block party with the world’s best underground DJs including Dixon, Danny Daze, KiNK + more on October 8 and 9, and a performance from house legend John Digweed on December 9.

Native Instruments Announces MASCHINE JAM Production and Performance System
Berlin, September 8, 2016 – Native Instruments today announced MASCHINE JAM – the modern production and performance system created for fluid, intuitive track sketching and the latest member of the MASCHINE family. MASCHINE JAM offers versatile workflow designed to swiftly capture and develop creative ideas using tactile step sequencing and touch-sensitive performance controls for the latest MASCHINE 2 software. Advancing the same seamless hardware-software integration found throughout the world of MASCHINE, MASCHINE JAM not only enhances music production with existing MASCHINE hardware, but also with DAWs, NKS-ready plug-ins, and the KOMPLETE range of software and hardware. MASCHINE JAM will be available at the NI Online Shop and at retailers worldwide starting September 29, 2016.

It will stimulate more creative experimentation, drive quick results and deliver the flow of a truly tactile digital instrument for advanced track building and performance”.

Its workflow centers on an 8x8 multicolor click-pad matrix where producers and performers can experiment with arrangement possibilities using patterns and scenes. In Step Mode, the matrix becomes a powerful multi-track step-sequencer for one, four, or eight sounds simultaneously. In Pad Mode, sounds are entered in real time, while Piano Roll Mode makes step-sequencing melodies in a wide variety of available scales possible. When the Variation Engine is enabled, inspirational beats and melodies are randomly generated based on customizable values and then modified on the matrix. A built-in humanizer adds natural rhythmic fluctuations to programmed sequences.
