Grammy Award Winner Jeff Ellis Turns to BAE 1073 DMP for Big Studio Sound at His Project Studio

Los Angeles, Calif., September 7, 2016In-demand engineer and mixer Jeff Ellis perfected his craft working on vintage consoles like the one at Eastwest Studios in Hollywood, where he started as an intern before working his way up to a house engineer. “The first console I learned on was a classic British console with 1073 mic pres,” Ellis says. “That’s all I heard through the first few years of my career, so the that sound will always feel like home to me.” Ellis quickly realized that there was something about the design of these vintage circuits that made it a critical tool for making records at the highest level. Since going independent to work on Frank Ocean’s channel ORANGE and collecting a Grammy Award in the process, Ellis continues to value that classic sound in his signal chain.

“Almost any good studio will have at least a rack of 8 vintage-style pres regardless of what console is being utilized in the room, it’s that important,” he says. “I’ve encountered BAE Audio pres in many of these studios, and have always used them interchangeably with vintage channels.” When it came time to outfit his own project studio, located within the Bedrock.LA studio complex, Ellis turned to the compact and versatile BAE Audio 1073 DMP to deliver the vintage tone he loves.

BASSBOSS New LA88 Line Array: High Performance in a Compact Form Factor

LA88 Line Array Features Stunning Clarity and Impressive Power in a Compact Chassis, Suitable for a Wide Range of Applications

Austin, TX – June 22, 2016: Austin-based powered loudspeaker manufacturer BASSBOSS introduces its LA88 small-format line array, perfectly suited for clubs, festivals and a range of other indoor and outdoor applications. The LA88 is designed to deliver unsurpassed fidelity with a flat frequency response, along with high output, a broad coverage pattern, and a long throw. Equally impressive is the form factor of the LA88, which is lightweight, durable and attractive. A built-in 3000W class D amplifier allows the LA88 to outperform any other speaker in its class — all while retaining BASSBOSS’s trademark plug-and-play setup and reliable operation.

A Massive Sonic Output in a Miniscule Footprint
“We designed the LA88 line array to offer extensive output from a minimal frontal area,” explains BASSBOSS President and Founder David Lee. “By employing a narrow aperture wave-guide and then rapidly transitioning the output to a flat fascia, the LA88 is able to deliver up to 140 degrees of coverage, reaching oft-neglected audience areas to the far left and right of speaker hangs.” Ready to fly at a lean 55 lbs each, the LA88’s dimensions (25.25” wide x 19.5” deep and 9.75” high) can hang with an overall width of 28.5” with rigging pins inserted in the flyware, leaving clean sight lines and the ability to pass through 30” doors while pinned together on their optional transport and ground-support cart.

The LA88 also delivers remarkable bass output for its size, delivering +-3 db from 50Hz to 18,000Hz in full-range mode. Subwoofer integration also enables the LA88 to deliver even higher levels of output by activating satellite mode, which engages a high-pass filter that maximizes midrange output. BASSBOSS offers flyware-compatible 15”, 18” and 21” subwoofers that can fly above or serve as support platforms below the LA88s.

Punchy New VS21 Subwoofers Deliver the Impact of Kick Drums and Intensity of Deep-Bass Synths, while LA88 Line Arrays Fill the Space with Pristine Sound

Austin, TX – May 10, 2016: Austin-based powered loudspeaker manufacturer BASSBOSS is well represented year round in its hometown, with speakers installed in popular venues such as Kingdom, Barcelona, Empire Control Room & Garage, and Ironwood Hall. When the South by Southwest Music and Media Conference sweeps through town every March, a broader audience is exposed to the power and clarity of BASSBOSS speakers as these venues play host to many official showcases and events. For SXSW 2016, in addition to their permanent installations around town, the company was asked to design and provide complete loudspeaker systems at two official stages, The Main I and The Main II .

Jes Elliott, SXSW Music Programmer, commented: “Time and again, BASSBOSS consistently delivers precision and quality that makes their products a standout feature. Everyone talks about how good it sounds when walking away from the show.”

Heightened State
“The fact that so many incredible artists descend upon Austin each year is always exciting,” says Lian Amber, CEO of BASSBOSS. “Having that kind of talent and intensity in one place creates electricity in the air, and BASSBOSS was proud to feed into that with our speaker installation at The Main I and II.”  BASSBOSS was tasked with providing systems that could convert a now bare space, located at the former home of Emo’s, a popular local live music club that has since relocated, into two separate clubs capable of handling the sound needs of top flight talent including Bun B and Steve Aoki. BASSBOSS president David Lee designed systems that were up to the task by utilizing some of BASSBOSS’s newest products, including the LA88 Line Array and RPX21 subwoofers.

IK Multimedia debuts iLoud Micro Monitor - the smallest studio reference monitoring system in the world

iLoud Micro Monitor lets musicians, producers, engineers and more hear the truth in their music via two portable active studio reference monitors that deliver an ultra-accurate linear frequency response that's ideal for mixing and mastering while on the go

January 20, 2016 - IK Multimedia is pleased to present iLoud® Micro Monitor, the smallest active studio reference monitoring system in the world. The latest addition to IK's iLoud range of portable monitoring solutions, iLoud Micro Monitor is a serious and reliable sonic tool that provides high-quality sound in a small enclosure at a price that everyone can afford.

It comes with two bi-amplified speakers that deliver an expansive stereo image, an ultra-accurate true linear frequency response, superior bass and plenty of power in a truly portable package.

With iLoud Micro Monitor, musicians and producers now have a way to critically listen to their music no matter whether they're mixing in a small makeshift recording space, mastering in a hotel room, producing in a larger studio or just listening at home.

Powerful and portable
iLoud Micro Monitor delivers stunningly clear and accurate audio. It's able to do this thanks to its impressive technical specifications and smart design: Its two speakers are powered by four ultra-efficient class D power amplifiers that push out a combined 50 W RMS of power. Each speaker sports a ¾" silk dome tweeter, a 3" paper cone performance woofer and a large flaring front-firing bass reflex port. Its sound is characterized by pleasing high frequencies, an exceptionally "open" midrange and a solid, controlled low end.

Sonically transparent in any space
iLoud Micro Monitor provides a flat and linear speaker response in any listening environment. It's able to do this thanks to its on-board 56-bit digital signal processor (DSP). This DSP handles the frequency and phase response of the monitor and also manages the dynamic range so that the drivers are always controlled. It also acts as a digital crossover allowing for invisibly smooth transitions between the drivers themselves. This DSP can be adjusted to suit different listening environments thanks to three EQ switches: One for treble, one for bass and a "DESKTOP" toggle that lets users optimize iLoud Micro Monitor for use in either a free field or desktop setup. iLoud Micro Monitor can also be physically positioned at two angles of inclination.

iLoud Micro Monitor's flexibility allows it to deliver stunningly accurate and detailed sound for mixing in any space - from cramped bedrooms to large studios - without the compromises in sonic quality normally associated with small monitors. Simply put, iLoud Micro Monitor's sound is so good that it's nearly inconceivable for a speaker system of this size and at this price point.

Sound that travels
Beyond its technical specifications, iLoud Micro Monitor is also incredibly portable. Its two speakers are small enough to fit in a gig bag or backpack - which makes it an essential travelling companion for anyone who needs to critically listen while on the go: musicians, producers, engineers, videographers and more.

iLoud Micro Monitor can also be used with a variety of audio input options. It accepts both RCA and 1/8" wired connections and can also be paired for Bluetooth streaming with all Bluetooth audio streaming-enabled devices. With its portability and comprehensive input options, iLoud Micro Monitor is able to provide ultra-linear sound anytime and everywhere.

iLoud Micro Monitor
Pricing and availability
iLoud Micro Monitor will be available early Q2 2016 from music and electronics retailers worldwide, and from the IK online store, for only $/€299.99 (excluding taxes).

Unity Audio Launching the Super Rock at the 2016 NAMM Show

Latest addition to the company's acclaimed 'rock collection'
of active studio monitors

ANAHEIM, CA, JANUARY 19, 2016 - Unity Audio, leading UK designer and manufacturer of studio and mastering monitors, will debut The Super Rock to the U.S. pro audio and MI markets at the 2016 NAMM Show (Hall A, Booth 6324).
This flagship near/midfield monitor heads up The Rock range of reference 2-way active monitors. The Super Rock starts out as Unity Audio's The Rock MKII, but goes deeper, hits harder and retrieves greater levels of resolution. Every component and parameter of The Rock MKII has been analyzed in microscopic detail and improved upon to create the newest addition, all while keeping the same 2-way design philosophy and convenient form factor.
Starting with the bass driver, a custom specification has been designed to match The Super Rock's bigger brother, The Boulder, in a smaller sealed cabinet. The 8" (220mm) SEAS custom aluminum woofer delivers amazing micro and macro-dynamics. The cone and low loss rubber surround have also been customized to eliminate cone edge resonance and distortion typically associated with soft cones. The same long, high temperature voice coil used in The Boulder is also employed in The Super Rock to provide low distortion and very high power handling capacity.

Latest addition to company's monitor range on display in Anaheim
ANAHEIM, CA, JANUARY 13, 2016 - Unity Audio, leading UK designer and manufacturer of studio and mastering monitors, will be showcasing the Boulder Active Bass Extender (B.A.B.E) for the first time in the United States at the 2016 NAMM Show (Hall A, Booth 6324).
