Isotonik Studios releases SMART FIVE for Ableton Live 10

We've long wanted to do more with our SMART parameter mapping device but we felt as if we'd pushed it as far as MaxforLive would allow us, well that was until we got a helping hand from Sebastian of Chaos Culture. We loved his user definable envelopes in Freak-Q and wanted to do the same with SMART's curves.
The result is more than just a lick of paint update (which nonetheless was needed and now follows your chosen theme color in Ableton Live) but an even easier to use SMART device that has (at last) integration with Live 10 and the Ableton Push 2.

The device was originally built from inspiration of the original controllerist Matt Moldover who'd posted in the now dearly departed controlerism.com forum about Smart mixing and the deeper mapping of Ableton Lives macros.
The screenshot above gives a flavour of what the device is about. It's got 8 individual Curve dials along with a master SMART Dial, as you modulate the master it in turn controls the eight individual curves and that's where the fun starts.
Ableton Live Macro mapping functionality limits you to setting a range, mapping many parameters to the same macro and you can't actually control when each parameter starts to become active without some complicated workarounds and compromises.
SMART makes life easy in this regard, open up the floating window and map to parameters within your Live set, as with Macro Mapping you can set the range for the Min & Max and then you can define how each parameter will behave as the dial is turned.

You can define each SMART Curve with unlimited numbers of break points and curves. The example above shows a simple DJ inspired set of Treble, Mid and Bass which as the SMART Dial is turned will turn down the Bass first, then the Mid and finally the Treble.
For ease of use each breakpoint when moved will give a readout of what the mapped parameters value will be at that point, taking all of the guess work and trial and error out of things!
One of the things that was a challenge was getting any form of usable information on the Push 2 screen. With the release of SMART FIVE we've managed this by updating the display with the names of each parameter that a curve is mapped to.

SMART as ever remains as part of the Modular Series along with Follow FIVE and this update is free to existing subscribers (just log into your account to download)

Afraid of Human Releases New Self-titled Album

Afraid of Human, a hard rock band from Warren, PA, recently released their self-titled album for lovers of Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, Breaking Benjamin, and Avenged Sevenfold. Formed on August 1st 2014 after the collapse of Rock band RFE (RoomforError) by Guitarist, Lyricist and Philadelphia native Brandon Kulp, Drummer, vocalist and NYC native John Grimm, and Bassist Dustin Huff. After many failed vocalist auditions, Jimmie Botto ( Former Vocalist of Blind Society) showed up to blow away any of the competition for the lead vocalist position. March 2017 saw the addition of Mike Key ( former Refuge lead guitarist) added to the line up.

They are currently playing shows in the north west Pennsylvania and south west New York region and playing a music festival to raise money for care packages for United States troops over seas.

Vujaday Music Festival Releases Stunning Aftermovie From 2018 And Announces Return To Barbados For 2019

After a successful debut edition this past April, Vujaday Music Festival has announced their return to the picturesque Caribbean island of Barbados next year for a week of music and adventure. The second year festival is set to take place April 3-7, 2019, and will once again allow attendees to experience renowned house and techno DJs from around the globe at locations all throughout Barbados.

With it’s dedication to providing attendees with an experience they’ve never seen or felt before, Vujaday pulls all the stops to create an unforgettable journey for attendees. The event spans over the course of five days, allowing festival goers to be fully immersed into the culture of Barbados while traveling throughout the island to experience the unique venues that Vujaday takes place at.
For a taste of the good times to come the festival has released their official aftermovie from 2018 with amazing scenes from the debut festival all throughout Barbados. The video provides viewers a look at the diverse venues and experience that Vujaday 2018 provided.

Vujaday has also announced that they will be hosting a new daytime party series during the festival for the first time this year. More details regarding this exciting new addition to the already jam packed Vujaday experience will be announced as the festival nears closer.

Venue highlights from last year included Bellevue Plantation, a 100-acre property built in 1735 that included a pool, polo fields, and lush gardens surrounding the property. Another favorite was Cornwall House, which allowed those in attendance to witness a breathtaking sunrise while overlooking the gorgeous Eastern Coast of Barbados. Other venues were located directly on the beach and gave attendees the chance to sink their feet in the sand throughout the event.

Vujaday 2018 talent included Dirtybird favorite Justin Martin, revered Italian DJ Francesca Lombardo, house and techno legend Green Velvet, house favorites Lee Foss and Lauren Lane, Lee Reynolds and Mikey Lion of Desert Hearts, and much more including Mark Knight, Lee Burridge, and Wolf + Lamb to name a few. More info on locations and artists to be released in the upcoming months.

Early bird tickets for 2019 are now on sale and can be purchased here. Those interested in attending are encouraged to purchase sooner than later before early bird sales end and ticket prices increase. More information about travel and additional details can be found on the Vujaday website.
